Similarly, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Naihan will arrive here next week on a two-week visit. The UAE President, during his visit, apart from his personal commitments will also hunt the endangered houbara bustards. A high-level delegation will also accompany him. Rangers have been deployed in five districts adjacent to Cholistan. Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar has summoned three companies of Rangers from the federal interior ministry for the security of the UAE royal delegation. Owing to its dwindling population, the houbara is not only protected under various international nature conservation treaties but is also protected under local wildlife protection laws. Pakistanis are not allowed to hunt it. The sources said that earlier Prime Minister Imran Khan, when he was in the opposition, used to criticise the then federal government for issuing houbara hunting permits and had not allowed houbara hunting in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
